Twenty years in lighting technology

My name is Balázs Somogyi, and I've been self-employed since 2011. I started working in lighting technology more than 20 years ago, back when I was still selling luminaires fitted with magnetic ballasts. Looking back, it's simply hard to grasp how much lighting technology has evolved over the past 20 years. Along that journey, I've evolved in much the same way.

Over that time I've designed lighting for industrial buildings and sold the products, carried out lighting retrofits, and worked on safety and emergency lighting, sports lighting, architectural and decorative lighting for public spaces, theater and studio lighting, and, not least, residential lighting and smart homes, and I've even had custom luminaires manufactured.
