Fewer switches, more comfort

Smart lighting is decided by the controls, not the lamp. Twenty switches on the wall is not a smart system, but four well-tuned scenes are.

Design starts with how the space is used: when task light is needed, when ambience, and what should happen when someone walks into the kitchen at night. This becomes the zoning and the scene list, and only then comes the question of protocol.

The choice of protocol follows the task: DALI where many luminaires need individual control, KNX where lighting is part of building automation, and a wireless system where it's added later.
